Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science

About Us

The Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science (IACETH) is part of the Department of Environmental Sciences (D-USYS) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich).

The IACETH is active both in research and education.

The research of the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science involves the study of weather phenomena, atmospheric composition and the climate system (including links to the cryosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere). The research is conducted by the research groups through field studies, laboratory experiments and numerical models and is geared to bring about a better understanding and to improve predictive capabilities. The research of the institute is linked to several national and international projects and organizations, among these the Center for Climate Systems Modeling (C2SM).

The IACETH is involved in the education within the curriculum of several within the ETH departments, especially of the Department of Environmental Sciences (D-UWIS) and the Department of Earth Sciences (D-ERDW). IACETH provides lecture courses, practicals and seminars.
