Workshop programme and files:

Computer workshops are based on a platform independent, free software package (the R environment for statistical computing and graphics). R is available from the R-project web-site. An introduction to R for beginners will be given in a specific Workshop (07.10.). A more detailed introduction is available from the R-project web-site.

A “fleet” of Macintosh Laptop Computers is available for the time of the workshops. Students can however also bring along their own computers, with R and the necessary add-on packages pre-installed.

The following table lists excercise sheets and specific R packages needed for each workshop. Students working with their own computers need to install the packages prior to the workshops. (Take care to prevent unzipping the files when downloading. Installation requires compressed packages.) Several additional packages are required and need to be downloaded/installed from the R webpage: For Workshop 1: fitdistrplus. For Workshop 4: maps, mapproj, mapdata.
