Assignments
Please follow this link for the course information retrieved from the ETH semester programme.
The guiding principle of this lecture is that students can understand
how weather and climate models are formulated from the governing
physical principles and how they are used for climate and weather
prediction.
This course consists of 3 contact hours per weeks. It is taught by Christoph Schär and Ulrike Lohmann Thursdays 13:15h-15h in CHN E42, starting on February 23.
The detailed outline of the lectures is given below:
The tutorials will be taught by Lukas Papritz assisted by Anna Possner and Jianxiong Sheng. The tutorials take place biweekly from 15:15-17:00 in room CHN G42 at the following dates:
MatLab will be used in the tutorials to simulate the flow over a mountain ridge. Tutorials for MatLab: Introduction (basics), Tutorial 1 (German) , Tutorial 2 (English)
Marks will be based on the tutorial and a written exam after the course. Students need to obtain at least Mark 4 (= 66% of the points) to get the 4 credit points (see outline above for further info).
