Electives/ Minors

Courses from the entire ETH course catalogue can be taken as elective courses e.g. to deepen or expand a module. Courses that are specifically recommended to supplement a given module are listed on the respective module page.

After consultation with the advisor courses from other programmes or universities can be approved as elective courses.

Students who have to fulfill individual requirements for the Master's degree or enroll in courses from the BSc programme to fulfill restrictions or recommendations, may be credited for these additional courses within the category "elective courses".

Elective courses that focus on a specific subject can also be combined to acquire a Minor, which requires at least 10 credits. We would especially like to draw your attention to the Minors:

Language courses are also offered in conjunction with the language center. They are worth the same as other compulsory subjects, although a maximum of four credit points may be acquired through language courses. In the case of European languages (German, English, French, Italian, Spanish), only language courses above a certain advanced level (usually B2) will count. Courses that can be accounted for as elective courses have a D-GESS code (851-xxx-xxx) and can be registered for in my studies.
