• Alpine valley wind dynamics (Field Experiment AllgEx 2005):
  The field experiment AllgEx was carried out 2005 to obtain some insights
  on a propagating shear front in the Alpen-foreland near the Lech Valley
  exit region in the Bavarian Alps. The results suggest that a wake effect
  of the nearby orography initiates a shear zone which then, after a
  thermally induced pressure gradient is established, starts moving
  southward towards the valley exit region. The phenomenon seems to have
  comparable dynamics to the Denver Cyclone in the US. (Thomas Spengler)
