Overview

The main objective of WP1 is to assess the specific needs of Swiss water user
groups with regard to an early recognition system. In particular, we will identify drought and low-flow indicators that are important from the point of view of the user groups and ensure that the development of the information platform meets the needs of the anticipated users.

Details

So far, the general need of different Swiss water user groups with regard to an early
recognition system has been assessed with a short questionnaire sent to 16 representatives. The responses have been put in the context of other (Europe-wide) studies investigating specific requirements to drought warning systems (literature review, participation in EU-networks) for the preparation of this proposal. We plan to realise an in-depth assessment of user requirements, which will take place in the context of a 1-2-days workshop in spring 2010, prepared by an elaborated questionnaire. This workshop will also include participants from other NRP 61 projects addressing related topics (see Section 1.5). Information on the progress of the research project and the development of the information system will be issued regularly to the water user group representatives and collaborating NRP 61 projects with a request for feedback.
