NCCR Climate
The National Center of Competence in Research on Climate (NCCR Climate) was established in 2001. The aim is a better understanding of the climate system trough interdisciplinary research on its variability and its potential for change.
The underlying themes of the diverse research activities of NCCR Climate are natural climatic variations and the man-made influence on climate change. These questions are studied on different time-scales ranging from seasonal to annual and multicentennial. The research program is organized in four complementary and interdependent work packages:
- Past climate - variability, trends and extreme events
- Future climate - processes and forecasting
- Impacts of climate variability and change
- Risk assessment, risk hedging and socio-economic response
