Land-Climate Interactions Group (Prof. Sonia Seneviratne)
RESEARCH INTERESTS
- The 20th and 21st century land-climate interactions, through the study of vegetation processes, soil moisture and hydrological balance, using models and climate data.
- The connections between the carbon and water cycles, the importance of precipitation and radiation forcing, soil moisture-climate relationships, and climate-change impacts on land-surface processes.
- The comparison between models and observational records to analyze key controlling mechanisms and identify possible areas of improvement for model parameterizations.
- Remote sensing and spatial analysis of land cover change in tropical forests and impacts on forest dynamics, ecology, and nutrient cycling.
