Additional information

Research area

  • Process-oriented and statistical modelling of biogeochemical cycles of trace elements in different environmental compartments
  • Combination of models and available measurements of trace elements, their speciation and further environmental parameters to better understand trace element cycles
  • Investigation of trace element distributions in a changing climate

Andrea Stenke joined the group of Inorganic Environmental Geochemistry at ETH's Institute of Biogeochemistry and Pollutant Dynamics (IBP) in 2021. Born in 1976 in Munich, Germany, she studied meteorology at the University of Munich. In 2006, she received her PhD in the field of chemistry-climate modelling focusing on stratospheric water vapour. After some years as Post-Doc at the DLR Institute for Atmospheric Physics, Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, she changed to ETH in 2009, where she started as Post-Doc in the Atmospheric Chemistry group of the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science, and later became the leader of the chemistry-climate modelling group. In 2009 she also became a member of the editorial board of Geoscientific Model Development, an international scientific journal of the European Geosciences Union. Between 2013 and 2019 she has been a lecturer for the Stratospheric Chemistry course at IAC. And since it is never too late to learn something new, she enrolled in ETH's DAS in Applied Statistics in 2019, which she finished succsessfully in 2021.
