LandFlux-EVAL

Coordination

S. I. Seneviratne (ETH Zurich), M. Hirschi (ETH Zurich), C. Jimenez (Observatoire de Paris), C. Kummerow (Colorado State University), M. McCabe (University of New South Wales), W. B. Rossow (City College of New York)

Aims

  • Evaluation and inter-comparison of existing land evapotranspiration products in the framework of the external pageLandFlux initiative of the external pageGEWEX Data and Assessment Panel (GDAP).
  • Generation of multi-year global merged benchmark synthesis products based on the analyses of existing land evapotranspiration datasets (monthly time scale, time periods 1989-1995 and 1989-2005) and providing ensemble statistics of the underlying data sets.

Merged benchmark synthesis products of evapotranspiration

The calculation and analyses of the products are described in external pageMueller et al. (2013). All types of global datasets that were available to the authors at the time of writing and that cover the mentioned time periods (global) were considered. The full set of merged benchmark synthesis products are available after registration.

Considered datasets:

  • Remote sensing products
  • Land surface modeling products
  • Reanalysis data products (ERA, NCEP, MERRA, JRA)
  • Diagnostic estimates (atmospheric water-balance estimates)
  • Products derived from ground observations (flux measurements)
